Practical Fair Housing For On-Site Personnel (1/2 Day)

Bulletin:  As of July 2 2008 - This Class has been rescheduled to October, as indicated below.  Full refunds will be given for anyone requesting them.  Your registration will automatically roll into the October dates, otherwise.  Contact Joe Diehl at (206) 290-5498 if you have any questions.  A new registration form appears below the narrative description of the course!

We know that housing discrimination affects people of all races, ethnicities, national origins and religions.  We also know that our on-site managers and on-site staff are on the front lines in preventing discrimination from happening at our properties. Most incidents of fair housing violations stem from ignorance of the law, rather than from hated or harmful intent. This inter-active class is designed for all site personnel, including management, maintenance, grounds and janitorial staff.  There's something here for everyone!  After defining "discrimination" in real, everyday terms, we will explore real life cases and analyze scenarios that will help participants recognize and avoid potentially discriminatory situations or behavior.  We will discuss what to expect in the event of a complaint of discrimination and how to avoid it.  You won't want to miss this practical, fun class.

Karen Crosta has over 20 years of experience in the affordable multifamily housing field.  After serving as a Property Manager and NCHM trainer, she developed a number of Certification courses for the industry.  Partnering with AHMA Northwest, Karen’s HUD Basic Occupancy Certification Course has become the flagship training program for property managers in WA State.  She is a Certified Fair Housing trainer with NAHMA.
