NEW Fair Chance Housing and Eviction Records Amendments

June 3, 2020

Good Afternoon,

You are receiving this email because you have contacted our office in the past with questions, come to training, or have met us along the way. The Seattle City Council recently passed Council Bill (CB) 119787, which prohibits landlords from using eviction history occurring during and six months after the City of Seattle’s COVID-19 State of Civil Emergency as a basis for adverse actions like denial of tenancy. For more information, click here.

To help community members and businesses understand the new law, the Seattle Office for Civil Rights is developing a Frequently Asked Questions document. As part of that process, we are asking you for feedback about questions that should be included in the FAQ. If you have suggestions, please email them to [email protected] by Monday, June 8th.

We recognize there is a lot going on right now. If you cannot respond by the deadline, feel free to connect with us when you can.

Best Regards,

Monica and the New Legislation Team
