AHMA Speaker Academy - Phase 2: Practicum

The AHMA Speaker Academy follows a structured progression from instruction to presentation and evaluation. The three phases are:
- Phase 1: Train the Trainer – Build foundational skills in training, leadership, and communication through workshops and mentorship.
- Phase 2: Practicum – Develop and present a training session to a focus group for evaluation and feedback.
- Phase 3: Live Speaker Showcase – Newly certified speakers deliver polished presentations to the AHMA community, demonstrating their expertise.
For those who participated in Phase 1: Train the Trainer of the AHMA of Washington Speaker Academy are eligible to register for the second session: Practicum.
During the practicum, participants will:
- Present a 5-slide training session to a focus group of board members.
- Receive constructive feedback on both presentation skills (engagement, delivery, clarity) and content (accuracy, relevance, impact).
- Be evaluated for entry into the AHMA training pool.
Ongoing Support for Practicum Participants
Those who register for the Practicum by May 8 will receive:
- Project Work: Continue developing the topic selected in Phase 1, refining your 5-slide training presentation.
- Mentorship: A training mentor will provide guidance, feedback, and support to enhance both content and delivery.
- Progress Check-ins: Each participant will have two (2) 15-minute calls or virtual meetings with their mentor—one in May and June—to ensure steady progress and address any challenges.
