This interactive and didactic webinar will provide information regarding the most common mental health conditions experienced by individuals living in Affordable housing communities. The session will also address how our behaviors are a demonstration of who we are and how we communicate our response to daily living. Individuals living with mental health conditions are a heterogenous population, most of whom live and want to continue to remain in their community. This comprehensive session will provide guidelines for supporting adults with mental health conditions in an independent housing setting. 

Learning Objectives 

After successfully completing this module, participants will be able to:
Identify strategies for dealing with residents who are time-grabbers.
1. Respond to residents who misrepresent and/or are confused and accuse staff of things they did not do.
2. Recognize tips for dealing with residents who become irate/angry/abusive/disrespectful.
3. Identify strategies for responding to, and defusing, challenging behaviors related to untreated MH conditions.
4. Recognize and defuse crisis situations.
5. Develop a crisis response plan for residents experiencing mental health Decompensation with limited family support
